Endo International, parent company of American Medical Systems (AMS), announced it had reached an agreement in principle with several leading law firms handling transvaginal mesh cases, including Davis & Crump. The settlement resolves approximately 20,000 claims relating to vaginal mesh products sold by AMS. The company reported that its’ liability through 2016 will increase to $1.1 billion of which $830 million is related to this agreement. The agreement is subject to final documentation.
The settlement is subject to a number of requirements that individual plaintiffs must fulfill, including verification of the implant of an AMS vaginal mesh product and confirmation of injury. To participate, individual plaintiffs will be required to sign a release. The aggregate amount is expected to be payable over time.
