The purpose of the panel was to hear arguments for and against the consolidation of all federally-filed ovarian cancer claims involving Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Powder and Shower to Shower talcum powders.
More than 1,800 talcum powder lawsuits have been filed against Johnson & Johnson throughout the United States. These suits allege that J&J hid information that prevented consumers from knowing about the ovarian cancer risk associated with using their talc-based powders. Studies done over the last 45 years have found that women who use baby powder as a feminine hygiene product on a regular basis are more likely to develop ovarian cancer.
“Our firm continues to investigate a number of claims that link Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder and Shower to Shower products to ovarian cancer,” said Cain. “We will be monitoring the decision by the JPML in this matter very closely as it will affect both plaintiffs and defendants involved in federal and state court litigation.”
